Spring has sprung

Today was a very exciting day in Year One! First, we had 9 of our chicks hatch. Then Mrs Kendrick came in to visit, she brought with her Buttons the rabbit and Jethro the skunk. They were so friendly and Mrs Kendrick told us lots of interesting facts. What facts did you learn about rabbits and skunks?

  1. The chicks are loving all the care and attention from all Y1 children, especially at feeding time when the children have a break. I’m sure they are looking forward to seeing their much missed mummy and getting a cuddle or two from her soon!

They chirp and sing away frequently during the day because they are happy. I wonder if some of you would like to cuddle a chick or two before they go home?

  2. I was bursting with pride and delight at today’s assembly that Mrs Broad delivered.
She told a lovely story with so much expression projecting her many different voices for each different character in the story, she really brought the story to life.
All the children were absolutley hooked especially Y1 children, seeing the wonder, surprise and sheer happiness on Y1 children’s faces was a privilege.
I have to give a special mention to Theo, Ben, Lily, Emily J, Josh, Violet, Poppy Gill, Poppy Green, Leon, Rhian, Sam and Ruby were totally gripped.
I have to give a huge additional mention to Theo! His face was a picture showing every emotion within the story. EVERYONE IN Y1 are trying very hard to project their voices and read with expression , so next time you read in school and at home please keep practising this to bring your stories to life too.

Finally, I loved all your giggles too! Feeling very proud of you all.
